What we were buying
A new city, grass instead of turf, extreme heat and humidity, and a new team playing up an age. That's a lot of firsts in one trip — exactly the kind of stretch you can't buy in weekly training. And they came home champions, with Avyaan taking the winning penalty in both the semi and the final.
The verdict
It was expensive, and we felt it. But measured as an experience-per-rupee — the travel, the level, the pressure of knockouts far from home — it's one we'd do again. The catch is you can't do many of these a season; picking which away trip is worth it is the real decision.
